About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Project Manager Level 2 / Operations Principal Project Manager Level 3 to join their team. This role is part of the Northrop Grumman SkillBridge Program, an opportunity for service members preparing for civilian careers to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participants will work on-site, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path through on-the-job training, supporting a 40-hour per week schedule. The program aims to provide separating service members with job skills training in a professional setting, offering hands-on experience with the potential for full-time conversion. Participants will receive comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities. The goal is to offer service members preparing for civilian careers a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

Requirements

Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
Ability to work on an assembly floor.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and special program access.
Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (for Level 2).
Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience (for Level 3).

Nice To Haves

Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field.
Experience using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools.

Responsibilities

Facilitate continuous improvement events to develop, define and improve processes in the forming and finishing of aircraft composite structures.
Analyze various manufacturing processes for opportunities to minimize scrap, reduce cost, increase capacity, and optimize schedule.
Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving, impactful solutions.
Work with program leadership to assess what-if scenarios and guide long-term strategic decision making across several different programs.
Generate metrics and conducts studies pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery.
Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence with program management and customers, even though unforeseen challenges.
Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery.
Develop and summarize analyses for the acquisition, maintenance & enhancement of capital assets and equipment.
Provides capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations.
