About The Position

The Power Solutions – Project Manager is accountable for leading and delivering electrical power solutions projects for mission critical facilities, including hyperscale data centers, utility, renewable, industrial, and energy storage environments. The role combines project leadership with broad technical coordination across electrical infrastructure, system design, energy storage, microgrid, interconnection, protection and control, and related power delivery needs. The Project Manager works closely with internal engineering teams, clients, utilities, vendors, subconsultants, and external stakeholders to define project needs and ensure solutions are delivered accurately, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining alignment with DLB standards, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry best practices. The Project Manager will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments. Will execute and assist project leadership on projects of complex scope. Will work independently or under limited supervision and may coordinate the work of others. The Project Manager will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Position Requirements (Intermediate level for all the following)
  • Knowledge of electrical power solutions and the coordination of complex electrical infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and components associated with mission critical and similar facilities, including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, distribution equipment, substations, and controls.
  • General knowledge of energy storage systems, microgrids, inverter-based resources, and utility interconnection considerations.
  • Ability to coordinate and review electrical engineering design packages for technical accuracy, constructability, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements, including NEC, NFPA, NESC, and relevant IEEE standards.
  • General familiarity with protection and control, grounding, equipment integration, system reliability, commissioning, and energization activities.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, contracts, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of mission critical facility requirements, including reliability, redundancy, maintainability, and uptime considerations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint as a platform for sharing information and tracking projects.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with strong organizational skills for file management.
  • Skilled at using project and construction management tools such as Procore.
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and delegate the work of others.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in technical and non-technical contexts, including direct interaction with clients and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with onsite and remote team members.
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements.
  • B.A. / B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in electrical engineering, power solutions, electrical design, energy infrastructure, or project management within mission critical or similar environments.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary electrical projects involving clients, engineering teams, contractors, vendors, utilities, or other external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy storage, microgrid, utility interconnection, or medium- and high-voltage projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Elements of Routine and Complex Projects (50%)
  • Lead power solutions projects from kickoff through final design, procurement support, construction coordination, commissioning, energization, and closeout, as applicable to the assigned scope.
  • Coordinate and oversee multidisciplinary technical activities related to electrical distribution, medium- and high-voltage systems, substations, generation, energy storage, microgrids, inverter-based resources, backup power, and associated controls.
  • Guide development of project scope, deliverables, technical assumptions, execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Coordinate and manage subconsultants, vendors, and external partners, including scope definition, performance monitoring, proposal review, bid leveling, and deliverable review.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among engineering teams, design disciplines, clients, utilities, contractors, commissioning teams, and other project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate integration of power solutions into broader design, construction, and operational workflows.
  • Facilitate technical review meetings and support alignment across electrical design, controls, commissioning, construction, and operations.
  • Coordinate internal team scheduling and resource needs with project managers and directors to determine the appropriate method of project execution.
  • Ensure project deliverables align with applicable codes, safety requirements, quality standards, client expectations, and established design criteria.
  • Coordinate QA/QC reviews and support resolution of design, field, construction, and commissioning issues.
  • Identify potential scope changes, technical risks, and schedule impacts and support development of practical mitigation strategies.
  • Support project delivery for energy storage and other emerging power technologies at a general coordination level, including equipment integration, utility interfaces, and commissioning readiness.
  • Monitor and Control Project Financials (25%)
  • Prepare, forecast, and monitor project budgets, profitability, margins, bill rates, utilization, and overall financial performance.
  • Communicate with the client when additional fees or change orders are required.
  • Identify project risks and develop or implement strategies to minimize impacts and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Develop cost schedules and schedules of value for client progress billing.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor commitments against approved scope and budget.
  • Manage Stakeholder Relations (20%)
  • Lead preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates for power solutions projects, including scope definition, assumptions, level of effort, resource planning, and pricing.
  • Support project quoting and pursuit activities by developing solution-oriented scopes aligned with client requirements.
  • Promote the firm, its services, and its power solutions expertise to existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and work with clients to identify and develop new project opportunities.
  • Serve as a primary client contact and build effective, long-term relationships.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through active communication, clear expectations, and timely issue resolution.
  • Administrative (5%)

  • Support adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity.
  • Promote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability.
