About The Position

Under the direction of the VP, Operations, the Project Manager Operations leads operations of water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment, and complies with federal, state and local guidelines for companies located in AK. The Project Manager Operations will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and assisting the VP, Operations to plan & execute capital projects, administer preventative, emergency and long-range maintenance programs including personnel and equipment assignments and repair procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree related to business administration, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• At least 6+ years of relevant experience in utilities, water, wastewater, and/or infrastructure
• Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements
• Moderate to extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of water and wastewater administration.
• Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.)
• Must be able to calculate basic geometric equations.
• Ability to read and interpret soil and hydro-geological reports and maps.
• Ability to complete work that will ensure the approval of all capital projects in a timely manner.
• Ability to keep accurate records and prepare and submit accurate reports.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills, including negotiating, decision-making research and analysis, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide safe working conditions for fellow workers.
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with customers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and implement a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to motivate others in the pursuit of Company goals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all daily activities and personnel for each project.
• Assists with supervising design and construction of new, existing and/or additions to facilities.
• Provides project support as directed by the VP, Operations. Such as estimate costs, prepare bids, assist with assigning equipment and personnel and schedule work for all construction projects.
• Tracks budget related information.
• Works with the VP, Operations regarding long and short term capital planning, and department repair and replacements plan management.
• Creates and maintains activity and progress reports for internal and external customers.
• Responsible for system maintenance and troubleshooting potential issues.
• Notifies management staff of any current or pending escalations relating to projects, or items that could impact the success of operations.
• Assist the VP, Operations with supervising plant and personnel compliance with state and federal requirements, guidelines and certifications including but not limited to ADEC, DOT, DOL, OSHA, EEOC, etc.
• Focuses on improving safety culture and may provide safety direction and leadership in support of operations.
• May provide operations leadership and management, as assigned.
