About The Position

The Project Manager, New Store Openings (NSO) plays a central role in driving the successful launch of new retail locations across the NAM region. This position oversees the entire lifecycle of new store openings—from concept and planning through execution and opening day. The NSO Project Manager ensures that every store launch is delivered on time, on budget, and fully aligned with brand, operational, and business objectives. In partnership with Retail Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Visual Merchandising, IT, HR, and Marketing, this leader brings structure, coordination, and operational excellence to every project. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and excels at managing complex timelines, cross-functional workflows, and rapidly evolving priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Project Management, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing retail store openings, remodels, or similar large-scale operational projects.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management capabilities with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, MS Project, or comparable).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable operating in a rapidly growing, evolving environment.

  • Familiarity with construction processes, permitting workflows, and vendor management strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all new store openings, relocations, and remodels, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to brand standards.
  • Build and maintain detailed project timelines, critical paths, and milestone trackers.
  • Partner with Real Estate and Construction to monitor buildout progress, permitting, inspections, and vendor deliverables.
  • Oversee operational readiness, including fixtures, signage, technology installation, merchandising setup, and staff onboarding.
  • Ensure all systems, tools, and operational processes are installed and tested prior to opening.
  • Support Store Operations in backroom organization, supply management research, and productivity improvements.
  • Serve as the central coordination hub between headquarters teams and field leadership.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Construction, Visual Merchandising, IT, Retail Operations, and HR to ensure seamless execution.
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings, communicating updates on progress, risks, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Partner with Finance to track NSO budgets, manage invoices, and forecast capital expenditures.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to drive pre-opening and grand-opening initiatives that amplify brand visibility and community engagement.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain NSO playbooks, templates, SOPs, and planning tools to ensure consistency and efficiency across all launches.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize project timelines, cost structures, and vendor processes.
  • Lead post-opening reviews (“lessons learned”) to continuously enhance future openings.
  • Proactively identify risks, delays, and obstacles, partnering cross-functionally to implement mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, permitting requirements, brand guidelines, and operational standards.
  • Maintain transparency and accountability across all project stakeholders through clear communication and documentation.
