About The Position

IAMGOLD is seeking a results-driven and hands-on Project Manager, Major Projects to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of work for a mining development project. This role will act as the key on-site representative of the Company, ensuring that project activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Working closely with contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders, the Project Manager will oversee all site activities, ensuring effective coordination and minimizing operational conflicts. The role is responsible for driving project performance through detailed planning, rigorous tracking, and proactive problem-solving, while maintaining strong governance over quality, contractual compliance, and risk management. The Project Manager will play a critical role in monitoring contractor performance, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions to maintain project objectives. This includes overseeing schedules, productivity, and resource allocation, as well as ensuring that all work adheres to technical specifications and contractual requirements. The position also leads quality assurance processes, approves deliverables, and manages contract administration, including billing, change orders, and project close-out activities. In partnership with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams, the role ensures that all site operations comply with strict safety standards and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager fosters a strong safety culture, proactively identifies risks, and ensures mitigation strategies are implemented. This role also contributes to sustainable development by prioritizing environmental stewardship, community relations, and responsible project execution.

Requirements

  • University or college degree in mining, civil, construction, mechanical, geological engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in mining or construction environments.
  • At least five years of experience in project management, team coordination, or site supervision.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, non-routine work with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to the project site in the Chibougamau region.
