About The Position

CompassX is seeking an IT Infrastructure Project Manager for a contract role (3+ months) to lead an M&A integration engagement for a client in the greater Los Angeles area. The project involves integrating a newly acquired company onto the client's existing enterprise infrastructure within a 90-day window, ensuring a smooth transition for staff and technology. This role requires coordinating workstreams, managing execution teams, and developing a playbook for future acquisitions. The position is preferably for a 1099 independent contractor.

Requirements

  • Proven track record managing technology infrastructure projects, ideally including M&A integrations, system migrations, or enterprise IT standup programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 environments - Active Directory, Outlook, SharePoint, and domain migrations - sufficient to understand scope, sequence dependencies, and risk.
  • Ability to coordinate execution teams effectively and identify problems early, with knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IAM, and server migrations.
  • Comfortable managing up to client leadership and across technical execution teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to build structured, reusable process documentation.
  • Based in LA, Orange County, or San Diego, with the ability to be on-site as needed throughout the engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep expertise in network/security, Microsoft environments, IAM, or IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the project plan, stakeholder communications, and coordination across all technical workstreams from Day 1 through 90-day stabilization.
  • Manage and align execution teams across systems, network, security, and identity workstreams.
  • Oversee the integration of Microsoft 365 environments including Outlook, SharePoint, Active Directory, and domain migration into a single-tenancy environment.
  • Manage execution across firewall configuration, VPN redirection, server migrations, and network security setup.
  • Ensure Identity and Access Management (IAM) is set up correctly and that help desk operations are resourced and ready for the post-acquisition surge.
  • Document the integration process into a reusable acquisition onboarding playbook.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape client work.
  • Direct line to leadership.
  • Build lasting relationships with local Southern California clients.
  • See the results of their work in the communities where they live.
