About The Position

RJM Construction is a fast-growing, high energy, commercial general contracting company headquartered in Golden Valley, Minnesota. As a project manager intern, you will assist the project management team in the execution of projects that are safe, on time, and within project budget. Project Manager Interns will interact across multiple internal departments and roles, including preconstruction, subcontractors, and field management to assist with various aspects of a project lifecycle. We are seeking a motivated individual looking to grow with the RJM team and enhance our team culture.

Requirements

  • Pursuing BS Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • General building construction and terminology knowledge
  • Work knowledge of building codes
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Understanding of Construction Systems and CSI codes.
  • Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project
  • Bluebeam Software
  • Viewpoint Software
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and confidence to work directly with clients
  • Team-oriented; flexible; professional; enjoys new challenges
  • Ability to harvest and maintain relationships with clients, architects/engineers, and subcontractors

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or estimating experience preferred but not required
  • School or industry-related certifications or accolades

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the project scope
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external project stakeholders, both written and verbal, to convey project questions, directions, reports, or other correspondences
  • Attend and support project meetings such as Owner/Architect/Contractor, subcontractor, pre-installation meetings, or punch list meetings
  • Assist the project manager in updating and delivery of project schedules
  • Update and maintain accurate as-built documents as changes on projects are encountered
  • Conduct safety walkthroughs of jobsites with field and project management staff, and ensure any deficiencies are corrected
  • Assist in the ordering or scheduled delivery of materials to the jobsite
  • Maintain awareness of new and emerging industry practices and the potential application to client engagements.
