About The Position

Rubicon is seeking a Project Manager supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar. This position will report to the Capital Project Team Lead. The Project Manager is responsible for developing and executing capital projects within the Geismar capital portfolio, ranging from approximately $100,000 to $50 million. This role supports project development from initial concept and scope definition through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and final handoff. The Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within sanctioned funding levels, and in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10–20 years of experience in a chemical plant or refinery environment as a process, project, or maintenance engineer.
  • Unrestricted right to work in the United States
  • Strong understanding of plant processes, materials, and chemicals used in manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of: Piping design and equipment layout, Electrical and instrumentation fundamentals, Pump selection, Materials of construction, Civil and structural basics
  • Solid cost estimating and capital project management experience.
  • Proficient computer skills for producing project reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary technical scopes and Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimates for proposed capital projects.
  • Prepare and submit expenditure proposals to secure project funding.
  • Manage projects through all phases, including concept development, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal design resources, estimating functions, and external engineering firms.
  • Review contractor and vendor bids and participate in contractor selection.
  • Provide technical and financial oversight during construction and commissioning.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules from conception to completion.
  • Evaluate project risks and cost estimates, recommending contingencies when appropriate.
  • Provide Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), life-cycle, and profitability analyses for assigned projects.
  • Ensure safe execution of all project activities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
