This professional position is located within the Division of Energy and Environment’s (DEE’s) Department of Climate and Energy. The Climate and Energy Department is responsible for administering projects and programs for our growing Climate and Energy (C&E) functions, which currently encompass five key areas that support the County Executive’s initiatives: 1) Climate and Energy Action Planning for internal government operations and community-wide initiatives; 2) Clean Fleet and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure; 3) Building Energy Performance; 4) Clean Energy Procurement; and 5) Sustainability and Equity. This Project Manager position will lead projects primarily within Climate and Energy’s clean transportation program. This will include managing capital projects to support Frederick County Government’s work to transition a portion of the County’s fleet to alternative fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emission from internal government operations. It will also include expanding the County’s community-wide clean transportation and electric vehicle readiness initiatives, with an emphasis on expanding equitable access to sustainable transportation alternatives. This position will also seek other opportunities to collaborate with internal and external partners on efforts that reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. While this position’s primary focus will be clean transportation, this project manager will also lead projects within Climate and Energy’s other programmatic areas as needed, including other projects that support the Division’s environmental justice goals.
