Prairie Landworks is a growing contractor delivering civil infrastructure, industrial, and commercial building projects across central Kansas. We provide complete construction solutions — from site development and utilities to commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Unlike many general contractors, we self-perform significant portions of our work — including earthwork, utilities, structural and flatwork concrete, and select industrial scopes. Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial or building construction project management experience
- Experience managing subcontractor-heavy projects
- Experience coordinating self-performed scopes such as concrete, utilities, or earthwork
- Working knowledge of contracts and delivery methods
- Strong understanding of schedule sequencing and critical path
- Experience with job cost tracking and forecasting
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Can pass a background and driving record check
- Field-aware — comfortable walking a site and discussing production with crews
- Organized and proactive
- Clear and professional in communication
- Strong in documentation and follow-through
- Calm under pressure
- Accountable — you own the result, not just the paperwork
Nice To Haves
- Experience in municipal or public facility construction
- Experience with design-build or negotiated delivery
- Experience managing MEP-heavy building projects
- Familiarity with Acumatica Construction Edition
- Experience with HCSS software solutions
Responsibilities
- Lead commercial and building projects from preconstruction through closeout — coordinating both subcontractor scopes and self-performed civil and concrete work.
- Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Lead subcontractor buyout and scope alignment.
- Plan and coordinate self-performed civil and concrete scopes.
- Collaborate closely with Superintendents and field crews.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Track job cost and forecast cost-to-complete.
- Prepare and manage pay applications.
- Communicate clearly with owners, architects, and engineers.
- Identify risks early and drive solutions before they escalate.
