About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects up to $15 million in size. The role involves performing accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting to ensure corporate profitability goals are met. It also includes leading the estimating effort for asphalt paving projects by analyzing plans and specs, performing quantity takeoffs, pricing materials, evaluating risk, and developing competitive bids that align with company strategy. The Project Manager/Estimator will coordinate efforts with cross-functional team members, large project sponsors, and managers of construction to manage resources and meet project schedules. They will participate in bid reviews and closings to ensure accuracy and evaluate project feasibility, and work with the estimating team to develop bid schedules. Additionally, this role involves coordinating with project sponsors and teams to develop comprehensive plans for project start-up and successful kick-offs, and providing an environment for dynamic project communication between Project Engineers, Foremen, Superintendents, and Construction Managers to ensure work is accomplished efficiently, profitably, and safely. The position also ensures proper job controls (quantities, costs, revenue, schedule), establishes and maintains working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, and inspectors, and ensures accurate construction reports for continuous performance improvement. The goal is to run projects at profitability levels that meet or exceed expected margins and to comply with and support corporate safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years progressive project experience in heavy civil environments.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in asphalt paving, dirt, and grading in either private or public environments.
  • Knowledge of construction asphalt paving, underground and grading practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.
  • Maintain ability to work in high production environment.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills.

  • Excellent supervisory communication and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy at all times.

  • Provide environment where dynamic project communication occurs between Project Engineers, Foremen, Superintendents and Construction Manager to ensure work is accomplished in an efficient, profitable, and safe manner.
  • Ensure proper job controls, i.e. quantities, costs, revenue and schedule.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base.
  • Ensure accurate construction reports for the job allowing for continuous improvement in performance.
  • Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed expected margins.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
