About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking a Project Manager (CPDI) to join our team. This position can be based at our Toronto, ON or Delta, BC facility and offers benefits from day one. What you’ll do: The Project Manager is responsible for managing after closing of the major electrical CPDI (Critical Power Distribution Infrastructure) projects nationally by meeting customer expectations and timelines for product, documentation, and quality. The Project Manager is to improve the financial position for Eaton Electrical (CPDI division) and the customer. The goal is to create value and establish the process as a key differentiator from our competitors. The Project Manager also will mentor the EatonCare personnel (technical and/or transactional) in the project order process. In this function you will: Be fully competent in technical major project management and operate with little direct supervision. Freedom to act to satisfy customer commitments and provide guidance to the sales representative and manufacturers representative of record relating to project deliverables. Develop a proven record in managing large projects establishing clear expectations with customer after contract is closed by documenting the major milestones on the project. Define needs of our customers, understand the factory capabilities, establish agreement with customer/factory and communicate order acknowledgements accordingly. Manage all aspects of the relationship with assigned projects with the distributors (as required), consulting engineers and OEM’s to ensure we continue a favorable relationship with all parties. Assume financial management of the project, including, reviewing terms and conditions with EatonCare (to ensure there are no shipping issues prior to delivery). Scheduling of the factory witness testing, which includes coordination of moving the equipment to the testbay by the logistics team. Working in conjunction with the National Service Manager on the allocation of field service and testbay resources to factory witness test the equipment. Working in conjunction with the National Service Manager to ensure all battery cabinets are recharged prior to month end shipments. Lead the three-phase order review meeting with EatonCare on a weekly basis which forms the basis of the weekly three-phase forecast for CPDI for management.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma equivalent in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical, mechanical or mechatronics.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a related field managing projects.
  • Successful technical background in industrial and IT technology.
  • Strong application knowledge of Engineered Products for Power Distribution.
  • Must be able to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Nice To Haves

  • University degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years minimum experience in working with electrical products and assemblies
  • AutoCAD literate in the application of Power Engineered Products.
  • Technical Professional Designation (P.Eng., CET, C.Tech, PMP)
  • Experience collaborating with Sales Engineers, Product Engineers and Manufacturing plants
  • Managing order entry delays caused by commercial problems, timely receipt of order, outstanding financial issues
  • Reviewing various drawing process, e-tools and availability, warranty vs. commercial concessions, managing customer relationships on behalf of Eaton
  • Demonstrates very strong organizational skills and documentation skills
  • Current safety regulations & job site visit safety
  • Resolving factory capacities & processes, sharing of information
  • Working with the service department on dealing with equipment breakdowns
