About The Position

The Project Manager, Construction will manage a campuswide portfolio of large-scale facility and utility maintenance, repair, and expansion projects in a highly regulated environment. This role encompasses strategic planning, execution, and delivery of GMP-compliant capital projects including new builds, retrofits, and utility installations. The Project Manager will ensure alignment with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and business objectives while managing cross-functional teams and external contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience designing and managing capital projects in regulated industries (medical device, nutrition, pharmaceutical).
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects (> $2.5MM).
  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations, construction codes, and validation processes.
  • Experience in contractor selection, procurement, and performance management.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • IL PE Certification is a plus.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of complex facility expansion projects.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Manage internal engineering teams and external service providers (design firms, contractors, suppliers).
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and documentation to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
  • Conduct constructability reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, and quality standards throughout project lifecycle.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, and turnover of facilities.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Utilize tools such as MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP for project tracking and reporting.
