Project Manager (Construction) – Pharma Manufacturing Projects Location: Morrisville, NC Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead capital investment projects within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from project initiation, design, and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover—ensuring delivery aligned to GMP, safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Proven experience managing capital projects in pharmaceutical or regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of GMP, HSE, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Experience across full project lifecycle including design, construction, and commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of project controls including cost, schedule, and risk management
  • Experience in contractor management, procurement, and stakeholder coordination
  • Familiarity with constructability reviews and technical quality processes
  • Understanding of commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ), and CQV practices
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate capital investment projects and manage the project engineering team
  • Prepare Project Initiation Documents (PBR, WBS, CBS, Project Scope Statement)
  • Develop and execute project strategies aligned to cost, schedule, functionality, and quality objectives
  • Manage full project lifecycle across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Coordinate and oversee design activities across all project phases
  • Identify and evaluate technical solutions with associated risks and investment value
  • Support design reviews including constructability and technical quality reviews (TQR)
  • Manage project performance across cost, schedule, and quality
  • Develop project cost estimates and drive value improvement initiatives
  • Establish and manage project change control processes. Manage project risks, deficiencies, and deviations
  • Develop procurement plans and manage tendering and contractor selection
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders across project execution
  • Monitor contractor performance including safety, quality, and progress
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, statutory regulations, and internal standards
  • Implement and monitor HSE requirements including safety reviews and inspections
  • Manage project documentation in line with regulatory and internal guidelines
  • Coordinate submission of statutory permits and approvals
  • Develop commissioning strategy and ensure readiness for IQ/CQV phases
  • Support transition from construction to commissioning and final handover
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Lead or contribute to facility, utility, and process improvement initiatives
  • Support site investment planning and identify improvement opportunities
  • Lead cross-functional teams and drive stakeholder alignment
  • Support training and development within the team
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and asset protection standards
