About The Position

This position will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of research projects for Dr. Martin's Sickle Cell program, ensuring alignment with defined scientific objectives and allocated effort, working directly with study Principal Investigators (PI). The role involves project leadership for complex research projects and study timelines, oversight of research contracts, subawards, and sponsor agreements, and management of IRB submissions, regulatory compliance, and multisite studies. It also includes developing workflows, improving processes, coordinating stakeholders, maintaining databases, ensuring data quality, supporting reporting and analysis, coordinating research visits, ensuring protocol compliance, supporting participant recruitment, enrollment, and long-term follow-up, collaborating with investigators, sponsors, regulatory offices, and external partners, and supporting grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in related field.
• 5 years experience in clinical research.
• At least three years' experience in project management, which may include management of specific clinical trials or clinical trials-related programs.

• Advanced degree preferred.
• Prior experience in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program is highly desirable.
• Participation in the UTSW clinical research mentoring program may count as additional experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex research projects and study timelines.
• Oversee research contracts, subawards, and sponsor agreements.
• Manage IRB submissions, regulatory compliance, and multisite studies.
• Develop workflows, improve processes, and coordinate stakeholders.
• Maintain databases, ensure data quality, and support reporting and analysis.
• Coordinate research visits and ensure protocol compliance.
• Support participant recruitment, enrollment, and long-term follow-up.
• Collaborate with investigators, sponsors, regulatory offices, and external partners.
• Support grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
• Define project/program scope with the PI, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the Clinical Research Manager, Clinical Department Administrator, and Vice Chair/Chair.
• Assist PI to develop project plans, timelines, and associated communications documents.
• Clearly and timely communicate project expectations to team members and management.
• Estimate research resources and personnel needed to achieve project/program goals, and work with CRM to help allocate from within the department or externally.
• Set and continually manage research project expectations with PIs and other team members.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the research team or program.
• Identify and manage related issues.
• Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Track project milestones and deliverables.
• Develop and deliver progress reports.
• Compose, edit, or create research personnel training documents.
• Align business processes with systems changes and provide a mechanism to deliver information to staff and/or faculty as necessary.
• Develop best practices and tools for research project execution and management.
• Work with PIs on scientific writing in grant proposal development, IRB development.
• Coordinate execution of clinical trials following trial guidelines.
• May supervise staff in performance of duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
