About The Position

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering assigned projects through to completion. This includes reviewing estimates, contracts, and specifications, and developing and managing project budgets throughout the lifecycle. The role requires ongoing coordination with management, clients, consultants, site staff, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager oversees all project documentation and financial performance, proactively identifying and communicating any risks or changes that may impact project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field (e.g., B.A.Sc. or Civil Engineering Technology).
  • 3–5 years of Project Management experience, preferably in the heavy civil sector.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret drawings and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with HCSS and eCMS is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project initiation, including reviewing estimates, contracts, and specifications, and coordinating pre-construction activities with internal teams.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, including cost tracking, change orders, and forecasting to ensure financial performance.
  • Coordinate procurement, subcontractors, permits, utility locates, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review drawings and submissions, secure approvals, and coordinate material fabrication.
  • Plan and schedule labour, equipment, and resources in collaboration with the Superintendent.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, quality, and contract compliance through regular site visits, inspections, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory health & safety standards, maintaining accurate project documentation.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing, and cost approvals in alignment with budget and contract requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support team members through training and ongoing guidance.
  • Lead project close-out, including deficiency resolution, final performance analysis, and lessons learned.
  • All other duties as required.
