About The Position

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Project Manager, Civil or Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Vienna, VA. This full-time position offers a leadership role on diverse project teams, focusing on challenging high-profile design and construction projects, particularly in transportation. The role involves understanding client needs, managing financial and technical aspects of projects, planning and directing geotechnical field observation and testing, conducting geotechnical analyses, and preparing project deliverables. The company emphasizes a collaborative, team-oriented environment and a commitment to technical excellence and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in civil engineering; Master's degree in geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Virginia or able to get reciprocity within six months.
  • Minimum of 8 years of geotechnical experience including site investigation, laboratory testing, geotechnical analysis, and geotechnical engineering construction support experience, including professional services consulting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing geotechnical engineering projects from proposal to construction.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, Virginia DOT and other State Transportation guidelines, and alternative delivery/design build procurement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient at writing, review, and editing technical reports to meet scope and quality objectives and client expectations.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard software.

  • OSHA 40-hr. HAZWOPER strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of our highly integrated, collaborative, and mutually motivated team on challenging high-profile design and construction projects, with a particular focus on transportation projects.
  • Understand client needs and execute projects to achieve client and company goals.
  • Develop work scopes and cost estimates for new opportunities.
  • Be capable of managing financial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Be effective in assigning and managing work.
  • Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.
  • Plan and direct geotechnical field observation and testing programs.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses and prepare geotechnical recommendations for design and construction projects, particularly deep foundation, embankment, ground improvement, and retaining wall design.
  • Ability to work successfully in a single profit center, team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Prepare project deliverables including reports, plans and specifications.
  • Demonstrate very strong verbal communications and written skills including client deliverables and regulatory submittals.
  • Demonstrate strong coaching and mentoring skills.
