About The Position

Hord Coplan Macht is seeking a Project Manager to join their Affordable Housing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design excellence, strong communication skills, and a dedication to client service. This role involves being the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating the internal HCM team and external engineering consultants to ensure the successful execution of architectural projects. This position is based in the Baltimore and DC offices and is not fully remote, requiring regular in-office presence for collaboration and on-site meetings.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in the Architectural field
  • License required
  • Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination
  • Strong Revit skills
  • Experience in preparing construction documents and construction administration
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Strong knowledge of the various federal, state, and local funding sources and application processes.
  • Experience with Maryland LIHTC processes is required.

  • Experience in Affordable Housing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provide input in developing a design and building performance strategy, effectively conveying this to assigned team members.
  • Lead project technical design efforts, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination, and quality control during all project phases, in collaboration with Senior Designer and/or Principal-In-Charge.
  • Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develop supporting research and documentation.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate the work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure project deliverables are integrated and support the design concept and performance goals.
  • Deliver complete, accurate, and coordinated project documentation.
  • Oversee the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Oversee construction administration duties, including RFIs, RFPs, and change orders. Review shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for design conformance.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including HCM staffing assignments.
  • Manage contract compliance and project financials, including fee budgets and invoicing.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that mentors and develops junior staff.
  • Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing and client/owner presentations as required.
