About The Position

At Valcor Engineering Corp, Project Managers serve as the cross functional leader of a project team comprised of Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, Planner/Buyers, and Quality Assurance Specialists. It is the responsibility of the project manager to manage the internal portion of the new product lifecycle from prototype Internal Design Review (IDR) through product Qualification. The ideal candidate will have technical experience in either engineering design, manufacturing or testing along with proficiency in project management or supply chain management.

Requirements

2-5 years experience in project management, or training in project management concepts
2-5 years experience in a Manufacturing environment, focusing on estimating, planning, and/or forecasting
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
Knowledge of technical concepts such as design engineering, manufacturing, or testing
Capable of understanding engineering prints, Bills of Material and Bills of Operation
Comfortable hosting meetings and presenting to Senior Management
Demonstrate affective team leadership skills

Responsibilities

Drive IPT monthly/quarterly/yearly financial targets
Monitor project closure KPIs and reduce overall unit lead time
Track internal and external nonconformances during the project life and develop lessons learned to improve follow-on orders
Function as the Customer liaison for the IPT. Provide Aerospace Customers and Senior Management with updates through presentations, email, and calls
Assign job priorities to Planning, Procurement, Machine Shop, and Lab Operations
Review and implement Engineering Change Orders with internal stakeholders
Review of Customer Purchase Orders and Change Orders prior to sales order acknowledgement
Track project performance and submit invoice requests with accounting
Support new order quoting with estimates for labor and material costs
Collaborate with Program Management to define the scope of the project, create the initial project timeline and estimate resource requirements
Create a detailed internal work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully take the project from initial prototype design, through Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Qualification.
Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the various phases of the project
Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
Review the project schedule with Senior Management and Program Management to ensure the timeline matches the overall business strategy.
Work with Program Management and the Design Team to identify all project risks and determine appropriate mitigation methods.
Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
Collaborate with Managers in various functional areas to assign staff resources and determine their time allocation on the project.
Set up a data management system to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
Drive project execution in accordance with the Valcor Stage Gate Process ensuring adherence to industry standards as well as Valcor standards and SOPs
Maintain a project action tracker and ensure progress of individual actions are completed on time
Facilitate project team meetings at a predetermined cadence
Work to clear project roadblocks or determine appropriate courses of action to present to Senior Management.
Maintain an up-to-date project schedule, reporting progress, issues, risks and opportunities to Program Management and Senior Management
Monitor procurement expenditures to ensure the project hardware costs fall withing target pricing.
Maintain continuous awareness of risks, issues, and opportunities which may arise and maintain a detailed log
Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
Prepare the project for closure and handoff to the full-rate production team, by ensuring all issues and roadblocks have been closed or addressed, production documentation has been updated and released, lessons learned documentation is complete, and all hard resource constraints have been evaluated
Facilitate production handoff meeting and officially close the NPI project
