About The Position

The Project Manager 1 - PMO - Central supports the general Project Management Office (PMO) teams to deliver complex projects that span across the Enterprise, furthering institutional healthcare goals and objectives. The incumbent oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of various Central projects to ensure the successful development, completion, and implementation of projects and initiatives. The incumbent works closely with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and leadership to ensure project deliverables are met on time, within scope, and on budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, information systems, industrial/management engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects, including project planning, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, and successful implementation.
  • Experience preparing and delivering updates, presentations, and recommendations to operational and clinical leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change control, with the ability to tailor approaches to clinical and business settings.
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, requirements gathering, process mapping, and problem solving, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, navigate diverse stakeholder perspectives, and present information clearly to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • High learning agility and adaptability, with a proactive and collaborative mindset, commitment to continuous improvement, attention to detail, and resilience in a fast paced, evolving healthcare environment.
  • Ability to run multiple projects efficiently and simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified associate in project management (CAPM), or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certification (e.g., Yellow/Green Belt) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documents the project's creation, development, and execution and the project's scope, budget, and justification.
  • Leads and manages multiple projects and assigns project managers with the support of the PMO Director and Program Manager and oversees results within the project/program/portfolio.
  • Manages interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure that information relating to project deliverables, risks and issues and effectively communicated between stakeholders in and outside of the department.
  • Mentors personnel in aspects of the profession such as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills and navigating politics.
  • Identifies PM-related training needs.
  • Evaluates the readiness of a project team or organization and recommends the related training required to ensure the effective application of project management and leadership principles.
  • Trains and mentors PMs that are required for the successful planning, execution, delivery and support of projects and their products or services.
  • Performs project reviews and assesses the health of a project.
  • Reviews findings so that the most important problem areas are clearly identified.
  • Assists in recruitment, interviewing, selecting members of the project management team.
  • Maintains industry knowledge on project management excellence and innovation.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Leads and manages a diverse portfolio of projects including core business functions, academic affairs and clinical initiatives across hospital and ambulatory operations.
  • Collaborates with operational, clinical, and academic leaders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success metrics that align with institutional strategic and performance goals.
  • Coordinates project activities across multidisciplinary teams (clinical, administrative, IT, and external partners), ensuring effective communication, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Develops and maintains integrated project plans, timelines, and dashboards to monitor progress, escalate barriers, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Facilitates workflow and process redesign efforts in clinical and business areas, identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, patient experience, and staff engagement.
  • Prepares executive-ready materials, including status reports, presentations, and decision-support summaries.
  • Supports change management planning, including stakeholder engagement, training coordination, go-live readiness, and post-implementation stabilization activities.
  • Promotes consistent application of PMO standards, tools, and methodologies within the organization, contributing lessons learned and best practices to the broader PMO community.
