About The Position

The Boeing Company's Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, specifically Space Mission Systems (SMS), is seeking a Project Management Specialist for their Common Products team in El Segundo, California. This role focuses on the production planning and execution oversight of space hardware, coordinating with various programs and support functions to optimize hardware production pipelines and deliveries. The specialist will be responsible for planning necessary resources from engineering, operations, and supplier management to form cross-functional teams for design, development, and delivery. Key responsibilities include capacity and throughput analysis, cost, schedule, technical, and risk management for space hardware throughout its lifecycle, developing and maintaining Earned Value baselines, and performing project startup/close-out activities, including documenting lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working with aerospace hardware
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in ambiguous and fast changing environments
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects and utilizing standard project management tools
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (Tier 5 Post-Start required)
  • U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance
  • Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person status required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • A current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or already in a Continuous Evaluation program
  • Experience with production planning and scheduling systems
  • Experience with space-grade requirements and hardware

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for production planning and execution oversight of space hardware.
  • Coordinate with programs and support functions to optimize hardware production pipelines and deliveries.
  • Plan required resources from engineering, operations, and supplier management to build cross functional unit level teams necessary to execute design, development, and delivery to programs.
  • Perform capacity and throughput analysis across critical and/or shared resources.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, technical, and risk management for space hardware from development through delivery.
  • Develop and maintain Earned Value baselines and status performance to plan.
  • Perform project startup and close-out activities, document lessons learned for incorporation into future project plans and hardware roadmaps.
