About The Position

AECOM is seeking a highly talented, self-driven, and motivated Project Management Director to work in the NY Metro Transit Rail Project and Design Management group, with a focus on Design-Build delivery. The role is based in the New York, New York area and serves as Project Director for multiple design-build transit rail projects in the NY Metro area. The Director is responsible for successful project delivery and stakeholder satisfaction, supporting multidisciplinary design teams, and leading the pursuit and delivery of projects. Project types include Design-Build and development of Bridging Documents.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Professional Engineer license in New York or New Jersey, or ability to obtain one within 12 months.

Nice To Haves

20 years of experience with NY metro rail agencies, including MTA, PANYNJ, and NJ Transit.
10 years of experience in a design project management role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as Project Director for multiple design-build transit rail projects in the NY Metro area, ensuring successful delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
Assist the project management team in managing a multidisciplinary design team to produce high-quality deliverables, meet schedules, and stay within budgets.
Lead the pursuit phase of design-build procurements, including teaming decisions, budgeting, scheduling, and conceptual design development.
Develop strategies for teaming and partnerships with local NYC contractors specializing in transit rail projects.
Oversee project budgets, financial forecasting, and cost control measures.
Manage project schedules, track milestones, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines.
Resolve complex issues through collaborative problem-solving and strategic decision-making with internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project partners to maintain transparent communication and alignment on objectives.
Manage contract administration, including scope management, change orders, and vendor performance oversight.
Develop and implement strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
Lead and mentor project team members, fostering excellence and professional development.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and quality assurance protocols.
Prepare and present project reports and status updates to senior leadership and clients.
