About The Position

Project Management Director- Business Risk Office The Global Payment Network Business Risk Office has an ambitious agenda to rapidly grow and mature to meet the Risk & Compliance needs of The Network; this includes meeting both domestic and international regulatory requirements. The Network Risk Chief of Staff is seeking a Director to lead the Project Management Office (PMO), the horizontal project delivery function within the organization that shapes, governs, and propels the successful execution of the organization’s highest priority work. This includes building the department’s prioritization and delivery routines and capabilities, as well as leading a team of project managers. Candidates should have a strong strategic command, an engaging executive presence, exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills, expertise in relationship-building, and the ability to manage large complex programs with energy and excitement. General Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Governance: Align project portfolios with strategy and growth goals, defining success criteria and portfolio governance models. Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison between senior leadership and teams, presenting project updates, risks, and recommendations. Operational Excellence: Maintain and build “well-managed” standards, ensuring that program and project management meets Capital One’s high bar for governance. In this role you will: Oversee the successful delivery of a diverse slate of complex and high priority projects managed by the PMO and executed in partnership with teams across the Network Risk Office Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management in a highly regulated environment, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment Serve as subject matter expert on the execution of strategic initiatives in a well-managed, sustainable way Partner with the the Network Risk leadership team to evolve and manage enablement forums and strategic project management processes to deliver initiatives in a dynamic environment with maximum impact Partner cross-functionally inside and outside of Network Risk to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive results and ensure delivery continues to run smoothly in broader context Ability to think creatively and problem solve around issues, creating organizational agility to adapt to changing demands Build relationships and collaborate with akey stakeholders to ensure necessary resources and commitments from partner teams Leverage project management and people leadership expertise to empower and inspire junior project managers to grow into the next generation of leaders

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of program or project management experience
  • At least 5 years of people leadership experience, leading teams of 5 of more

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or MBA
  • 10+ years of project or program management experience
  • 10+ years of people leadership experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • 5+ years of project management experience leading cross functional programs in risk
  • 3+ years of experience working in the financial services industry
