About The Position

Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Lead, Water Management is responsible for leading the development of a project water management strategy to support mine development projects and meet the necessary social, environment and regulatory requirements associated with water management for future mining expansions. To be successful, we are looking for someone who has strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. This person can balance different perspectives, influence contributors, and make recommendations for the strategic direction of the project. Requirements

  • Engineering or Science Degree in a related field
  • Minimum five years relevant professional experience with a focus on water quality assessment or water quality monitoring.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project management and delivery is an asset
  • Experience in development and implementation of holistic water management programs and risk evaluation of water quality/quantity and aquatic life is an asset
  • Experience supervising or leading a team is an asset
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulatory compliance is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Oversee the development of a project water management strategy that integrates with the current and future operational water management within Line Creek Operation, integrates with existing and planned water treatment, and aligns with the overarching EVR water management strategy.
  • Integration with Regional programs focusing on water quality and quantity and considering cumulative effects of multiple industries operating in the same watershed
  • Evaluate the performance, implementation and interpretation of complex water quality and quantity models
  • Coordinate development of mitigation plans for complex issues relates to water quantity and quality including Interaction between groundwater and surface water, tributary level in stream flow requirements and water quality impacts
  • Coordination with multi-disciplinary teams and professionals including regulatory approvals, Mine Engineering, and Tailings, and technical disciplines involved include hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, water quality, aquatic health, water infrastructure and fish to develop Water Management Plans consistent with business, regulatory, regional water quality modelling, and Water Governance Framework requirements
  • Work directly with operational based teams for water management to deliver a plan that considers efficiencies in mine planning, mine operations water consumptive uses, management and storage.
  • Provide technical support of permitting applications and regulatory submissions
