Requirements

  • Fifteen (15) years of work-related experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that may include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, training, teaching, and writing skills

Responsibilities

  • This position would be managing the Industrial Relations function on a large, union project in the Pacific Northwest United States
  • Maintain a close working relationship with project management to ensure that Industrial Relations services are being properly executed and that business needs are being met
  • Organize, lead and manage all craft recruiting campaigns on the project and coordination with company wide craft recruiting efforts/services
  • Facilitate staff training related to union relations and labor/CBA/PLA requirements
  • Assist in development of skilled workforce onboarding and training. Play a key role in the onboarding/training of workforce
  • Lead coordination of dispatching and scheduling of craft labor with both applicable unions and the project team
  • Deep involvement with project management team regarding ramp up’s and ramp down’s of craft workforce
  • Assist project team with craft layoffs and terminations
  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the site Industrial Relations functions
  • Set priorities to ensure task completion and make decisions that are guided by policies, procedures, and project business plan
  • Ability to work closely with client and their representatives on all union related issues
  • Has the ability to build a solid working relationship with applicable unions
  • Attend and participate in Labor-Management meetings
  • Understand union jurisdictions
  • Manage grievances and arbitrations to resolution
  • Provide input to Pre-bid documents and reviews subcontractor work assignments
  • Pre-job engagement and meetings with local unions
  • Prevent and manage threat and actual work stoppage
  • Ability to manage one or two full time employees
  • Interface and maintain a close relationship with the corporate Industrial Relation function
  • Manage record keeping, reporting and documentation that may be required to meet project and corporate or regulatory requirements, including monitoring initiatives.
  • Organize, lead, and manage all craft recruiting campaigns via on the project initiatives and coordination with company wide craft recruiting efforts / services
  • Facilitate staff training related to union relations and labor requirements / standards
  • Assist development of skilled workforce onboarding and training and play a key role in onboarding/training of skilled workforce.
  • Lead coordination of dispatching and scheduling of craft labor with unions and project teams
  • Deep involvement with project management team regarding ramp up and ramp down scheduling of craft labor
  • Assist project management team with layoffs and terminations
  • Lead resolution to all union grievances
  • Ability to manage 1 or 2 FTE’s
  • Ability to become NW NECA Accredited representative.
