About The Position

Austin Bridge & Road is seeking a part-time spring intern for its 2027 Heavy Civil Engineering Internship Program. The paid internship runs from January 4, 2027, through May 14, 2027. The intern will work onsite at an assigned project in Phoenix, Arizona, gaining hands-on experience supporting active heavy civil construction projects and field operations under the guidance of experienced construction professionals. The intern will learn how engineering principles apply to project planning, execution, quality, and safety; develop skills in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation; and collaborate with project engineers, superintendents, project managers, and field teams. Interns receive mentorship and exposure to career paths in project engineering, construction management, and operations leadership. Each intern is assigned a professional supervisor, meets with that supervisor to establish goals and expectations, and receives a review upon completion. The supervisor may also complete paperwork required by the intern’s school or university. Interns are classified as temporary employee-owners. They are expected to follow the same policies and procedures as regular, full-time employee-owners, but are not eligible for vacation pay, holiday pay, or other benefits listed in Policy A-5.
