About The Position

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for a Project-II Archaeologist position in Phoenix, AZ. This is a full-time, salaried role (not seasonal) requiring 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will conduct field work and manage cultural resources projects across various regions including the Great Basin, Mojave Desert, Sonora Desert, and Colorado Plateau. Responsibilities involve hiking in moderate terrain, effective communication, recording and evaluating cultural resources, participating in surveys and excavations, safely driving field vehicles, and using topographic maps for navigation. While based in Henderson, the role involves collaboration with the cultural resources team in Reno and Denver. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of office and field skills, prefer fieldwork, and have experience with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Requirements

B.A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
Qualify as a Crew Chief or Principal Investigator Statewide in Arizona and Nevada and/or neighboring states for federally issued Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) permits, Cultural Resources Use Permits (CRUP), and State permits.
Training and experience implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Ability to traverse moderate mountains and desert terrain while carrying a 30-pound pack.
Five years of experience working in a consulting company, state agency, or federal agency.
Experience with data entry, producing site forms, and professional communication such as emails and letters.
Experience writing professional reports for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Responsibilities

Conduct field work and manage cultural resources projects in the Great Basin, Mojave Desert, Sonora Desert, Colorado Plateau, and surrounding regions.
Hike in moderate terrain in populated and remote areas of the Great Basin and Southwest.
Communicate effectively with the field crew and office personnel.
Record and evaluate cultural resources.
Participate in surveys, excavations, and monitoring projects.
Safely drive field vehicles in the back country.
Read topographic maps for navigation in the field.
Collaborate with the larger cultural resources team.
Perform both fieldwork and office activities independently and with a team.
Enter data, produce site forms, and engage in professional communication (emails, letters).
Write professional reports for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
