Project Helper - Dallas Office
About The Position
As a Project Helper for Merit Restorations, you will support the mitigation and restoration crews in performing emergency services and restoration work on residential and commercial properties. This role assists technicians and project managers with job setup, demolition, cleanup, equipment handling, and general labor support to keep projects moving efficiently and safely. Merit Restorations specializes in mitigating and rebuilding residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, storms, and other disasters. They partner with leading insurance carriers and handle everything from emergency cleanup to complete rebuilds, with a focus on safety, integrity, and advocacy. Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (50+ lbs. regularly)
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and challenging environments
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when needed for emergency services
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Excellent analytical and time-management skills with good interpersonal skills and communication with all stakeholders.
- Able to work at the company office in Purcellville, VA.
- Must have a vehicle to use for work
Nice To Haves
- Basic computer or smartphone skills helpful but not required
- Restoration or construction experience is a plus but not required
Responsibilities
- Work safely in residential and commercial properties damaged by water, fire, storms, or other disasters
- Assist technicians with emergency services, including water mitigation, board-ups, tarping, job site stabilization
- Support job site readiness before work begins and cleanup after project completion
- Remain on site for inspectors, subcontractors, or deliveries as needed to keep projects moving forward
- Assist with setup, monitoring, and removal of mitigation equipment
- Load, unload, transport, and maintain equipment and materials
- Assist in restocking vehicles and supplies after jobs
- Clean, organize, and maintain mitigation equipment, tools, vehicles, and trailers
- Help maintain emergency vehicles, trailers, and equipment
- Assist with warehouse organization and staging equipment for upcoming jobs
- Perform demolition and debris removal as directed
- Remove and properly dispose of trash and damaged materials
- Maintain clean and orderly job sites throughout projects
- Assist with cleaning and preparing structures and contents during restoration
- Serve as a project runner by transporting materials, equipment, and supplies between job sites, vendors, and the branch office
- Run errands related to active projects, including material pickups, equipment returns, and supply deliveries
- Assist technicians with moisture readings as directed
- Support job documentation and photo documentation when required
- Take direction from Mitigation Technicians, Project Managers, and the Branch Manager
- Communicate respectfully with customers and team members
- Maintain professional behavior and appearance while representing Merit Restorations
- Respect customer property and maintain a clean, professional work environment
- Support crews with general labor tasks to keep projects on schedule
- Assist crews in working efficiently and meeting timelines
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures at all times
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
