About The Position

Kleinfelder's Geotechnical team is looking for a Project Geotechnical Engineer to join their Southern California Area team. This position can be based in Kleinfelder’s Laguna Hills, Riverside or Los Angeles, California offices. The ideal candidate will perform and develop scopes for field and office tasks, conduct field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis and technical support under supervision. This role will also coordinate tasks and small projects with guidance and interaction by senior operations/technical staff, and prepare designs, reports and calculations on complex projects for review. We are looking for someone with the ability to provide quality technical support on commercial, municipal, transportation, energy and water projects. Experience on design/build projects is preferred.

Requirements

  • 6 to 10 years of related experience or 4 years related experience with a Master's or 2 years of related experience with PhD.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Must have a positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
  • Strong analytical skills are required in areas including: soil and rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, materials testing and engineering soil improvement techniques, and pavement design.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to travel and perform field work, even under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Position will require the candidate to adhere to work assignments/schedules, be self-motivated, organized and have a keen sense of detail.
  • Candidate must be willing to work in addition to a standard 40-hour work week when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on design/build projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, drilling operations and heavy civil project design and construction are preferred.
