About The Position

S&ME is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to support their Columbia, South Carolina, and Augusta, Georgia offices. This role involves overseeing and executing diverse geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion. The engineer will utilize their technical expertise to lead project teams, collaborate with clients, and deliver reliable, timely solutions for significant building and infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or a related engineering field.
• 4+ years of related geotechnical engineering experience, which preferably includes some extent of project management responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical projects through all stages, ensuring successful delivery while meeting project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Evaluate field observations and laboratory results to develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective engineering recommendations.
• Prepare proposals, technical documentation, and project deliverables.
• Contribute to client growth and business development efforts.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project partners to maintain communication, address issues, and keep projects moving forward.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members while fostering a collaborative environment focused on safety and professional growth.
