About The Position

This role is for a Project Financial Analyst within Operations and Professional Services. The company deploys crews to client sites across the country for two lines of business: Installation and Assembly Services (IAS) and Professional Services. IAS involves labor deployed to fulfillment centers, data centers, and industrial facilities, with pricing models including time and materials, fixed bid, and cost plus. Professional Services is a rapidly growing division that handles bid work for multi-site programs. Currently, pricing for these services is managed by operations leaders, and there is a need for dedicated project-level financial analysis to understand profitability, identify cost variances, and ensure accurate billing. This is the first Project Financial Analyst position, and the successful candidate will be responsible for building and owning financial models, reporting packages, and processes from scratch within their first ninety days.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of finance or accounting experience in a labor-based or project-based services business (staffing, industrial or field services, construction, engineering, facilities, or specialty trade contracting).
  • 3+ years building financial models in Excel from raw source data.
  • Experience with labor economics (bill rate vs. fully burdened pay rate, utilization, gross profit per hour).
  • Experience performing job cost or budget-to-actual analysis on discrete projects or sites, including explaining variances.
  • Experience reading contracts, rate schedules, and change orders and reconciling them to financial data.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering, construction management, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across multiple commercial models (time and materials, fixed bid, cost plus) within the same business.
  • Experience with percentage of completion, WIP reporting, or AIA style progress billing.
  • Experience with a construction, field services, or staffing ERP (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation).
  • Experience with per diem, travel, and lodging cost treatment for a deployed workforce.
  • Experience in estimating or preconstruction.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or SQL.
  • Experience supporting multi-site programs with repeating scopes.
  • Experience as the first analyst in a function, business unit, or growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the pricing models for all proposals, quotes, and rate cards, including labor, burden, material handling, travel, mobilization, and fees.
  • Run sensitivity analysis on pricing models to show leadership the impact of various factors on margin.
  • Own the bill rate architecture, validating that published rates cover fully burdened costs and achieve target margins.
  • Report on utilization and unbilled time, analyzing billable hours against paid hours by site and crew.
  • Deliver monthly job costing for each engagement and site, comparing actual costs (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, travel) against estimates or rate cards.
  • Own billing integrity on the commercial side, including maintaining a change order log with value, approval status, and revised POs, and ensuring accurate capture and application of fees for cost-plus engagements.
  • Quantify monthly travel and lodging cost recovery, providing data to the Travel team on areas for improvement.
  • Produce the monthly profitability package for both business lines, including the divisional net profit figure.
  • Define the reporting calendar, source data standards, and cost coding structure.
  • Assist in selecting reporting and ERP tooling.

Benefits

  • Annual base pay range of $150,000 to $180,000, depending on experience.
  • Eligible for annual performance bonus.
  • Eligible for the company profit sharing program.
