About The Position

The Project Executive (PEX/OM) is a senior management position accountable for the overall results of the project(s) under their supervision. This role generally oversees multiple projects, ensuring their success and acting as the primary leader. The level of hands-on management varies by project needs. The PEX/OM is responsible for proper project staffing, including active involvement in recruiting, and develops strategic plans for project success, ensuring adequate resources are available. This role serves as a liaison between operations and business development, actively participating in both areas. The PEX/OM may manage a single large, complex project (typically over $75M) or multiple projects through delegated teams. Superintendents and Project Management staff may report directly to the PEX/OM. The PEX/OM must take all necessary measures to achieve project success, including quality, profitability, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction. They should be capable of all duties of a Senior Project Manager, having demonstrated success in that or an equivalent role, and be able to manage large, complex projects, multiple smaller projects, and manage through subordinate staff.

Requirements

  • Proven prior success as Senior Project Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Already operating in general at the PEX/OM level.
  • Minimum of 12 years project management experience.
  • At least two (2) years as Senior Project Manager.
  • Full understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and duties of all subordinate staff, including all levels of Superintendent and Project Management, and the coordination of these positions.
  • Solid understanding of the role of Business Unit Leader.
  • Ability to lead the Operational part of the Business Unit and integrate it within the structure and strategic plan established for the Business Unit.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies and equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • MUST HAVE PHARMACEUTICAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE!!!
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.

  • As a general guideline, minimum of 12 years project management experience, with at least two (2) years as Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Overall project leader, planner, and person most accountable for project results.
  • Participate in and lead the estimate process as required.
  • Write and execute subcontracts and purchase orders, or delegate as necessary.
  • Participate in the Owner contract process, including negotiations, and form strategic plans for the project.
  • Understand and communicate the business deal to subordinates.
  • Establish project profitability goals and targets for staff.
  • Lead or oversee overall project scheduling and delegate scheduling roles to staff.
  • Monitor schedules (overall and short-term) and take necessary action to achieve them.
  • Oversee and approve all documentation processes, including document and drawing controls, submittals, RFIs, filing, correspondence, reports, and communication practices.
  • Approve the Change Management plan for the project and ensure compliance.
  • Establish project procedures and execution plans, and review/monitor, taking action as necessary.
  • Oversee Owner billing procedures and approve the process.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor payments and processes.
  • Review all cost control processes, including profitability analysis, and participate as needed.
  • Ensure profitability is maintained, working with staff to mitigate downside risk and realize upside potential.
  • Review safety programs and involve staff as needed to ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Lead project meetings, including subcontractor, Owner/Architect, and executive-level meetings.
  • Review and conduct internal team meetings to ensure staff performance.
  • Develop and enhance client relationships for potential repeat business.
  • Participate in business development activities, assist in proposal preparation, and promote productive client relationships.
  • Participate in presentations.
  • Provide leadership in the professional and career development of subordinates, including timely and fair performance evaluations.
  • Ensure assigned projects are staffed with qualified salaried and craft personnel.
  • Lead recruiting and staffing efforts for projects.
  • Understand the Business Unit's Plan and actively participate in its establishment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
