About The Position

Ruby-Collins, Inc. is seeking a Project Estimator for their Heavy Civil Division. This role is responsible for the full pre-construction lifecycle for complex, multi-million-dollar hard bids. The position involves owning the entire project trajectory from initial takeoffs and cost breakdowns to delivering strategic bid presentations. The Heavy Civil Division provides turn-key management for all construction phases, serving internal operating divisions and external clients. The focus areas for projects include deep foundations, deep excavation, complex underground utilities, shoring, multi-level underground and elevated structures.

Requirements

  • Proven mastery of the full pre-construction lifecycle from inception to final submission.
  • Expert-level command of structural and civil drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Advanced proficiency in AGTEK for earthwork analysis and production estimates.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex cost-modeling.
  • High-level proficiency in Bluebeam for digital take-offs and document management.
  • Demonstrated success in evaluating and negotiating competitive proposals from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Deep understanding of market volatility and regional pricing trends across the Southeast.
  • Direct experience estimating heavy civil scopes, specifically: deep excavation, underground infrastructure, shoring, heavy utility, and Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP).
  • Must be able to work full-time in-office at our Smyrna, GA headquarters.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Project Manager (or a deep technical understanding of PM challenges) is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full pre-construction lifecycle for complex, multi-million-dollar hard bids.
  • Responsible for the entire project trajectory: from initial takeoffs and top-to-bottom cost breakdowns to the final delivery of strategic bid presentations for Executive Leadership.
  • Evaluate and negotiate competitive proposals from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Analyze earthwork and production estimates using AGTEK.
  • Perform digital take-offs and manage documents using Bluebeam.
  • Develop complex cost models using Microsoft Excel.
  • Understand market volatility and regional pricing trends across the Southeast.
