About The Position

This position manages construction projects of low to moderate complexity and risk, such as conveyor installations and facility modifications. The role ensures adherence to contract documentation, scheduled timelines, and cost-control parameters. It may also develop project documentation, including Request for Appropriation project scopes of work and estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or International equivalent.
• Experience evaluating bid proposals.
• Experience designing solutions for process improvement.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
• Flexible travel schedule, including weekends, with travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Completes the bid package process, including bid creation, bid evaluation, background checks, and bid awards, to select competitive bids and competent vendors for contracts.
• Requests and evaluates bids and proposals based on competitive bidding, background checks, and vendor competence, and recommends contract awards.
• Develops project schedules to ensure adherence to deadlines.
• Investigates mechanical breakdown problems, including conveyor system failures, operator errors, and system design flaws, to prevent declines in productivity and efficiency.
• Identifies opportunities to improve construction processes and develops design solutions to optimize package flow efficiency.
• Evaluates budget performance, analyzes sources of surplus, and negotiates with vendors to prevent future project scope changes.
• Maintains cost logs and project management checklists, processes invoices, and releases funds to contractors to document and facilitate project completion.
• Conducts construction inspections of materials and installations to ensure performance meets UPS standards, repairs are completed on schedule, and quality materials are used.
