2027 Summer Internship - Project Engineering - Autonomous Mining - Hybrid

Freeport McMoRan•Phoenix, AZ
•$27 - $34•Hybrid

About The Position

Freeport-McMoRan is hiring a temporary, full-time summer intern to perform project work under general supervision. The internship is designed for full-time students enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America, and typically runs from May through August. The hybrid program combines virtual work with regular in-person collaboration at the Phoenix Collaboration Hub and/or company site locations. Interns are expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance—60 miles one way—of the corporate offices; those living farther away would be required to relocate and would be eligible for travel and housing assistance. Interns may be assigned projects in civil and structural, control and instrumentation, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Depending on the assignment, work may include reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and other deliverables; attending project meetings and visiting construction sites; supporting engineering projects and recommendations; coordinating project scopes, estimates and information packages; and using computer programs to address engineering problems. The estimated pay range is $27.00–$33.75 per hour, with individual pay rates based on education level and relevant experience. The position may be eligible for immigration work visa sponsorship subject to business needs, performance and safety expectations, and site approval. The employer requires pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random drug testing as permitted by applicable state laws.
