About The Position

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January- July/August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). As a Project Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Engineering, you will be focused on leading engineering projects for Permanent Magnetic Alternators (PMA), harnessing, and ignition system products for large commercial, military and business aviation engines programs. We are engaged at all levels with our internal and external customers during every stage of the aerospace product life cycle (development, entry into service, in-service support). We are a highly collaborative team that interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, as well as business-related functions. Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and using Project Management techniques
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
  • A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience

Responsibilities

  • Support project tasks of short to medium duration, while ensuring customer milestones are met within budget and schedule commitments
  • Host cross-functional meetings, record action items, and drive project execution through action follow-up
  • Engage with a cross-functional team on Engineering Change (EC) execution
  • Work alongside experienced engineers to support major design milestones, including PDR, CDR, FDR and DVT requirements deliverables
  • Work with experienced engineers to perform system and component requirements reviews and compliance assessments for complex engine control system components
  • Support experienced project engineers with engine control system component investigations using root cause and corrective action process (RCCA)
  • Execute development tasks aligned with Collins engineering standard work
  • Interface with component suppliers and other members of the integrated product development team (chief engineers, systems engineers, program management, etc.)
