At Emerson's Power & Water Solutions, you'll work alongside experienced engineers who are developing automation and control technologies for some of the world's most critical infrastructure. Our solutions support renewable energy, conventional power generation, and water treatment facilities, helping customers operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably. As a Co-Op Engineer based in Cranberry Township, PA, Blue Bell, PA, or Detroit, MI, you won't be sitting on the sidelines. From day one, you'll contribute to meaningful work, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply your academic knowledge to real engineering challenges while learning from industry experts. You'll work with industry experts, apply engineering concepts to real-world challenges, and build skills that will help launch your career. Whether your interests are in engineering design, automation, technology, project execution, or problem-solving, this co-op provides an opportunity to explore, learn, and make an impact while continuing your education.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Enrollment in a formal co-op program as part of your engineering curriculum, with the ability and interest in returning for multiple co-op rotations
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt quickly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in automation, controls, power generation, renewable energy, digital technologies, or water treatment systems
  • Experience through engineering projects, research, robotics competitions, student design teams, makerspaces, or other hands-on technical activities
  • Exposure to engineering software, programming, simulation tools, or technical applications

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects that support reliable energy generation and clean water infrastructure
  • Collaborate with a global team of engineers and technical professionals solving complex engineering challenges
  • Learn and apply automation technologies, engineering processes, and industry-leading products
  • Support application design, engineering execution, and project delivery activities
  • Bring fresh ideas and perspectives to engineering and management teams
  • Gain exposure to customer sites, field activities, vendor visits, manufacturing processes, and system testing environments
  • Experience how engineering solutions are developed to balance technical requirements, customer needs, project schedules, and business objectives
  • Partner with senior engineers who will provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development
  • Collaborate with fellow co-op students on team-based and cross-functional projects
  • Build technical, project, and problem-solving skills through meaningful hands-on experience
