Project Engineering Co-op (Winter/Spring 2027)
About The Position
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, running January-July/August, including the Spring semester. It is expected that students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity. The role provides Project Engineering support and ownership for the Air Turbine Starter (ATS) and Gearbox product line. The co-op will lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include providing customer support for Field Failure investigations, resolving Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs), managing piece part supplier transitions, and pursuing cost-saving opportunities to maximize project profitability. The role also involves consolidating and presenting plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project, supporting Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries, verifying internal processes are being executed to reduce the probability of engineering turn backs, and reading and interpreting drawings, providing markups, and coordinating drawing changes.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using analytical and developmental software such as MATLAB, CAD, NX, and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
- Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Degree
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with mechanical hardware is preferred
