About The Position

Reporting directly to Director Operations within the Systems department, the Project Engineer II is responsible for leading complex engineering tasks within the Systems department, ensuring accurate design translation, technical feasibility, and seamless execution of lighting, shading, and control projects. This role provides advanced technical expertise, oversees detailed documentation, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain Visual Comfort’s premium standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related discipline required.
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in architectural lighting, shading, or controls.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to interpret complex design and system requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., D365) and schematic design software; experience with Scope is a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multiple teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate schematic designs for technical accuracy and buildability, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop detailed bills of materials and ensure alignment with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Create and manage quotations, change orders, and cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Design and Project Management teams to ensure seamless handoff and execution.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to secure accurate pricing and lead times for custom solutions.
  • Ensure pricing and product data integrity within quotation and ERP systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in engineering workflows.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in lighting, shading, and control systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
