About The Position

Siltronic is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of highly specialized hyper pure silicon wafers. Our global production network in Asia, Europe, and the USA includes today’s most advanced plants for 200mm and 300mm wafers. The Project Engineer independently interprets and applies established policies, processes, and standards to make informed decisions that support project execution while maintaining schedule and budget. The role is responsible for identifying and resolving resource conflicts, managing vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure expected cost, quality, and performance outcomes, and routinely evaluating engineering activities and equipment for safety risks and regulatory compliance with the potential for significant impact. This position also determines appropriate work area boundaries, storage locations, egress routes, and tool move-in and move-out paths during installation, as well as assessing the applicability of job requirements such as hazardous work permits to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management is required, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related industry experience
  • At least one (1) year in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong technical knowledge of cleanroom environments, standard work practices for pipe fitting, carpentry, and electrical trades, and applicable codes and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate work with varying levels of autonomy
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to clearly present information to both small and large groups
  • Proficient in computer applications including CAD and Microsoft Office products.
  • Physical ability to access process equipment throughout the facility, including cleanrooms and walkable ceilings
  • Flexibility to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to sit / stand / walk as required for various periods of time
  • Ability to use office equipment, phones, laptop effectively for various amounts of time throughout the day
  • Ability to lift / carry / push/ pull up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute installation and demolition activities in accordance with accepted engineering practices, the company’s change control policies, and Plant Engineering Standards.
  • Submit updates to engineering documentation including drawings, manuals, and site standards.
  • Review and select vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Monitor and control the execution of projects for cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Prepare project specifications and scopes of work for vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Maintain current cost schedules for facility installations to aid in validating contractor estimates.
  • Ensure proper permits are being pursued.
  • Work with project team members to remove barriers for project success.
  • Work with project team to assemble engineering packages for contractor installation.
  • Convert P&ID and distribution diagrams into pipe routing and component layout diagrams.
  • Determine and evaluate tool move-in and move-out paths.
  • Perform job walks with contractors and coordinate the work of multiple contractors.
  • Develop installation strategies and coordinate production downtime to accommodate project work.
  • Initiate hazardous work permits
  • Maintain communications with site EHS personnel regarding project requirements.
  • Verify that field installation matches engineering packages and coordinate as-built mark-ups of final drawing packages.
  • Work in hazardous areas as assigned involving potentially dangerous electrical power, chemicals, and stored energy. (secondary)
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate resources needed to complete projects.
  • Facilitate contractor project meetings to ensure consensus of deliverables.
  • Coordinate and communicate between active project teams to effectively utilize internal and external resources.
  • Manage new equipment installations to ensure they are on time and within budget.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of hazards and safety concerns for assigned areas.
  • Resolve identified equipment code, health, and safety issues
  • Provide regular project reports and forecasts.
