About The Position

Designed for an engineering student approaching graduation, this role offers broad responsibility and the opportunity for rapid professional growth. The Project Engineer will help LS Power evaluate and pursue opportunities to grow its transmission business by developing project concepts, performing engineering analyses and design, and supporting competitive proposals and other development initiatives. This role combines engineering analysis and design with the broader business challenges involved in developing new transmission projects. Engineering will be a part of the position, but not its sole focus. The right candidate is someone who wants to apply their engineering mindset across a mixture of technical and business challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or May 2027.
  • Interest in transmission development and the ability to apply an engineering mindset to technical and business challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently learn unfamiliar concepts and software.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by making reasonable assumptions and supporting conclusions with evidence.
  • Ability to manage assigned work independently, seek input when needed, and adapt to guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Research potential transmission opportunities and assess relevant engineering, transmission planning, permitting, siting, regulatory, cost, schedule, and commercial considerations.
  • Develop preliminary project concepts and compare alternative scopes, facilities, and execution approaches.
  • Perform engineering analyses and prepare calculations, studies, drawings, and other technical deliverables.
  • Learn and use PLS-CADD to perform transmission line design and related analyses.
  • Coordinate with internal specialists and external consultants to gather and evaluate information and develop analyses and project documents.
  • Identify missing or conflicting information and update analyses as project inputs change.
  • Prepare proposals, analyses, cost estimates, and risk assessments for competitive pursuits and internal decisions.
  • Own assigned work through completion, meet deadlines, raise issues early, and check work for accuracy and consistency.
  • Use approved artificial intelligence and other productivity tools to improve work quality and efficiency while independently verifying results.
