About The Position

Veolia in North America is seeking a Project Engineer to be responsible for project development engineering activities, from first site visit through implementation to start up and commissioning. This role involves site surveys, data collection, benchmarking, analysis of improvements, conceptual design, costing, technical/cost modeling, and proposal preparation. The Project Engineer will also support business development with client presentations and interface with various internal and external experts, including consultants, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a concentration in cogeneration, chillers / refrigeration, power distribution systems and controls
  • 3-5 years experience in the technical development of large energy projects preferred
  • Experience of working across various sectors.
  • Ability to bring innovative energy services solutions
  • Operational experience, not solely a theorist
  • Experience with Google Office and Microsoft Office products
  • Microsoft office products including Office, excel, project and Visio
  • Motivated and dynamic person with ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Resourceful and proactive person who enjoys working on a small team
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experienced and self-sufficient engineer, with knowledge of Central utility plants including boilers, chillers, compressed air, cogeneration, HVAC
  • Utility distribution systems including steam, hot and cold water, compressed air, chilled water, electricity, lighting, HVAC
  • Energy process optimization
  • Mechanical and electrical facilities management
  • Modeling software such as Gatecycle or Thermoflow
  • Excellent knowledge of the US energy services market including: US energy markets (natural gas, oil, coal and electricity), prices, legislation, suppliers, influences, supply contracts, associated financial markets and derivatives
  • Local regulations for energy plant design, installation and operation (such as boiler manning requirements etc)
  • Environmental regulations, emissions trading markets
  • Players in the US energy services market and their respective focus, skills and expertise
  • A network of technical experts, contractors, consultants and manufacturers

Responsibilities

  • Site surveys and data collection on existing Client sites
  • Benchmarking of current site energy and operating costs
  • Analysis of opportunities for technical and operational improvements
  • Development of conceptual design
  • Costing of capital projects with and without external contractors
  • Costing of operation and maintenance components
  • Technical / cost modeling
  • Preparation of Technical Sections of Client proposals
  • Support Business Development with Client presentations
  • Interface with other Group experts, including within Dalkia France, Dalkia UK, Veolia Water North America, Veolia Environmental Services, Veolia Transport and external contractors and consultants, etc.
  • Develop and manage external technical relationships with consultants, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, etc.
