About The Position

Sika is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their team. In this role, the Project Engineer will be responsible for project leadership and overall management of Automotive Technologies related to damping, sealing, and reinforcing. The position involves driving activities to meet timing requirements through managing DFMEA and DVR&R activities through launch, securing application design approval, managing tooling budgets, and collaborating with customer engineering and factory support to achieve project goals. The Project Engineer will also support Sika's materials application strategy to meet customer requirements, manage project timelines from award through 90 days post-launch, ensure design reviews are completed and drawings are released according to procedures, establish DVP&Rs and DFMEAs, and ensure design verification of parts including customer on-site validation. Additionally, they will manage engineering changes from quote approval to implementation and perform other duties as required by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required in Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of application engineering or Program Management required preferably in the Automotive Industry.
  • PC proficiency including MS Office and project management software.
  • Excellent analytical & quantitative skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Capable of creating strong internal & external relationships with customers, vendors, and contacts across business groups.
  • Japanese speaking and experience with the culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding and tooling as well as part design is highly recommended.
  • Experience working with Japanese OEM's.

Responsibilities

  • Assume project leadership and overall responsibility for Automotive Technologies in damping, sealing, and reinforcing.
  • Drive activities to meet timing needs.
  • Manage DFMEA and DVR&R activity through launch.
  • Secure application design approval.
  • Manage tooling budgets.
  • Work with customer engineering and factory support to achieve results.
  • Support Sika materials application strategy to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage project timelines from award through 90 days post-launch.
  • Ensure design reviews are complete and drawings are released in accordance with department procedures.
  • Establish DVP&Rs and DFMEAs.
  • Ensure design verification of parts including customer on-site validation.
  • Manage engineering changes from quote approval by the customer to implementation at the manufacturing plant.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Supervisor.
