About The Position

The Project Engineer will be responsible for customer engagement, project schedule management, budget tracking, and coordination of engineering changes. This role involves working closely with internal and external customers, supporting senior leadership, and ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget. The position also includes risk management, acting as a primary contact for design engineering in cross-functional meetings, and ensuring test and quality standards are achieved. Limited design engineering work may be assigned, including technical papers, calculations, analysis, and model/drawing preparation. The role requires experience in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes, design engineering best practices, and logistics.

Requirements

  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with strong, pro-active communication with management on task or project progress, challenges, solutions, and requests for support
  • Self-starter, organized, thorough and meticulous, able to work under pressure to ensure quality and delivery, but quality over delivery if any compromise cannot be avoided despite schedule pressure
  • Skilled at project engineering with interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Resourceful and well organized
  • Ability to assist with a New Product Development project and effectively work in a cross-functional team
  • Technical Writing – Procedures, Results, as assigned
  • Dedicated to high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to perform in an ambiguous environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Access)
  • Manufacturing environment experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of PMBOK at minimum.

Nice To Haves

  • PMBOK techniques a plus
  • Previous experience with Integrated Project Teams is a plus
  • Valve design familiarity a plus
  • Valve, regulator, fluid mechanics/control related coursework/education will be additional qualification
  • PMP Certification a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Customer engagement (internal and external customers)
  • Written and verbal communication internally and externally
  • Create, complete, and manage New Product Development project schedules (Gantt charts)
  • Resource & Milestone planning
  • Support Senior Director, Chief Engineer and Program Managers in tracking budgets and forecast to complete (on time, on budget)
  • Engineering Change Request and Notice (ECR/ECN) coordination and some processing
  • Risk Management, matrix, mitigation
  • Primary contact for design engineering for internal cross-functional meetings
  • Communication with external customers to cover control of order changes technically; assurance that test and quality standards are achieved; interface with the customer in drawing and document information exchanges; review of contract specifications and communication of the requirements
  • Supports updates to department metrics as assigned
  • Assist the development of project engineering and management processes
  • Limited Design Engineering work as assigned, including technical papers, calculations and analysis, and models/drawings depending on need and current skillset.
  • May also provide technical guidance for the preparations of technical proposals
  • All other duties as assigned
