About The Position

As a Project Engineer, you will execute the engineering portion of OTR contracts that contain Balance of Plant (BOP) scope. You will own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities conducted will aim to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer. This role impacts approaches, projects, and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. It impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of your own team. You will have significant input into priorities, guided by professional practices and policies shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment. The job will require some travel within the US, Latin America, and Globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering or any other related STEM program from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience or more of related industry experience with increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan, schedule, and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, Product Engineering, Sourcing, and Engineering sub-contractors.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline and serve as a best practice/quality resource.
  • Have awareness of the latest technical developments in your area and contribute towards strategy and policy development, ensuring delivery within the area of responsibility.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of best practices and how your area integrates with others; have working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Take a new perspective on existing solutions and use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of your own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

  • Own the engineering execution of BOP-scoped Projects from Contract signature until the end of contractual obligations.
  • Manage a cross-functional Engineering team to master the risks and opportunities of the Contract.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to Project Management and internal engineering teams.
  • Review Customer specifications and communicate contract and project requirements to all design functions, utilizing internal documentation systems.
  • Evaluate the financial/schedule impact of Customer requested scope changes.
  • Provide technical support to Engineering, Sourcing, Vendors, and Installation teams to ensure equipment meets all Customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Enforce quality procedures and participate in their improvement.
  • Assure the experience feedback by capturing issues (Lessons Learned).
  • Serve as Senior Project Engineering Manager, when assigned, to lead and facilitate a total project solution across all product lines.
  • Act as the Global technical project focal point and partner with the project manager for customer/EPC meetings.
  • Drive consistent project requirement flow down across product lines (GT/ST/Gen/BOP) (Contractual/compliance).
  • Drive functional resolution to technical project issues from a system level across product lines.
  • Ensure respect of contractual obligations while protecting customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the technical risks of the project.
  • Drive project profitability according to the assigned budgets.
