About The Position

The Project Engineer position focuses on project management, process improvement, new product launches, equipment and process optimization, and vendor management. This role involves executing capital projects to meet or exceed cost, schedule, and performance goals, which can range from owning parts of large projects to sole ownership. The engineer will be responsible for project justification, completing payback analyses, and authoring capital fund requests. They will also develop preliminary concepts, budgetary estimates, and timelines for new initiatives, and assist in developing vendor bid packages and selecting vendors in collaboration with the procurement team. The role includes providing project status updates, investigating manufacturing problems, recommending and evaluating corrective actions, and driving the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned projects. Additionally, the Project Engineer will coordinate training and start-up activities for new equipment and processes, manage budgets for capital, labor, parts, contracted services, and expenses, and be involved in replacing/adding production capabilities through equipment modification. Establishing equipment SOPs, maintenance practices, and automating manual tasks to improve capacity or reduce costs are also key responsibilities. Completing IQ/OQ/PQ processes for new equipment installations may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
Basic understanding of engineering principals - knowledge of engineering disciplines: Process, Packaging, Electrical, Mechanical and Automation
2-5 years of project management experience
Able to work collaboratively with other functional groups
Excellent communication and team skills (verbal, written and presentation)
Ability to take ownership of projects, to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary
Understanding design for reliability and total cost of ownership principals

Nice To Haves

Experience with AutoCAD and PLC Programming is desirable
Understanding of Business – financial justification of projects
Analytical skills – data visualization and decision making

Responsibilities

Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded.
Ownership of project justification, completing payback analysis, and authoring requests for capital funds.
Developing preliminary concepts, budgetary capital estimates, and timelines for new products, projects, and improvements.
Assisting in and / or developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services in collaboration with procurement team.
Periodically providing status updates on project progress and issues.
Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions.
Drives achievement of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of assigned projects.
Coordinating training and start-up activities of new equipment and processes.
Manage capital, labor, parts, contracted services and expense budgets.
Replacing/adding production capabilities by adding or modifying equipment.
Establishing equipment SOP's and maintenance practices to place assets in a precision state.
Modifying equipment and processes to automate manual tasks to improve capacity and/or reduce cost.
Completing IQ / OQ / PQ process for new equipment installations when necessary.
