The Project Engineer position focuses on project management, process improvement, new product launches, equipment and process optimization, and vendor management. This role involves executing capital projects to meet or exceed cost, schedule, and performance goals, which can range from owning parts of large projects to sole ownership. The engineer will be responsible for project justification, completing payback analyses, and authoring capital fund requests. They will also develop preliminary concepts, budgetary estimates, and timelines for new initiatives, and assist in developing vendor bid packages and selecting vendors in collaboration with the procurement team. The role includes providing project status updates, investigating manufacturing problems, recommending and evaluating corrective actions, and driving the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned projects. Additionally, the Project Engineer will coordinate training and start-up activities for new equipment and processes, manage budgets for capital, labor, parts, contracted services, and expenses, and be involved in replacing/adding production capabilities through equipment modification. Establishing equipment SOPs, maintenance practices, and automating manual tasks to improve capacity or reduce costs are also key responsibilities. Completing IQ/OQ/PQ processes for new equipment installations may be required.
