About The Position

The Raymond Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team in San Diego. This full-time role provides project administration and operational support for commercial construction projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the accurate processing of contract documentation and project controls, tracking schedules, coordinating material submittals, and logging field metrics to support job profitability goals. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of commercial field experience in the wall and ceiling industry OR a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for daily tracking tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commercial building methods, construction rules, and basic project tracking systems (scheduling and cost tracking).
  • Experience reading and understanding architectural plans, blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications.
  • Experience using industry software tools such as Bluebeam, PlanGrid, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Quick Bid, or BuzzBID.
  • Knowledge of the local construction community.

Responsibilities

  • Track and update critical project logs, blueprints, and files daily to ensure alignment between office and jobsite teams.
  • Administer and route all project requests, design adjustments, and material approvals between the project team and the client.
  • Review incoming work files, structural blueprints, and technical sheets to identify and report any mistakes or mismatches.
  • Create material order lists and plan jobsite storage logistics.
  • Analyze daily field production logs to monitor progress and identify project schedule delays.
  • Review and compare quotes from material suppliers to ensure optimal value.
  • Gather jobsite quality reports and field safety data to assist field crews with compliance issues.
  • Compile and verify final warranties, operations manuals, and completion paperwork for smooth project close-outs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field leaders to support overall team goals.
