About The Position

Aquatech is seeking a full-time Project Engineer for its Houston location. The role supports pre-contract and project activities for water treatment plant solutions, including water reuse, desalination, minimal and zero liquid discharge, and critical minerals recovery. The Project Engineer reviews customer technical specifications, prepares proposal and project documentation, coordinates engineering work across internal offices and external parties, and provides project management, scheduling, progress reporting, and vendor coordination support. The role is exempt, is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and requires approximately 30% domestic and international travel. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, customer-service driven, mechanically capable, creative, and effective at problem solving.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
Ten years of experience in a project-related industry is preferred.
Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to interpret engineering equipment specifications.
Attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Decision-making ability and leadership skills.
Time-management and organizational skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD engineering drawings and P&IDs.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects and manage multiple tasks or projects with attention to detail.
Ability to use SAP and MS Office software proficiently.
Ability to navigate 3D models using Navisworks.
Ability to use MS Project and Primavera P6.
Willingness to travel approximately 30% domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

Prior water or wastewater infrastructure project experience.
Experience using ASPEN estimating software.

Responsibilities

Review and understand customer technical specifications for water treatment plants.
Provide general project management support to the project manager and project team.
Monitor compliance with applicable codes, standards, practices, and specifications.
Prepare proposal and project documents.
Facilitate timely engineering reviews of vendor quotes and review vendor quotes and purchase requisitions for compliance with project specifications.
Visit vendors periodically to monitor progress.
Create and maintain the Project Master Document List.
Coordinate internal engineering activities across Aquatech offices and with external engineering agencies and site contractors.
Coordinate engineering responses to subcontractor requests for information (RFIs).
Coordinate initial document submissions, address customer comments, ensure timely resubmission of revised documents, and pursue approved status.
Coordinate collection of inputs for the 3D model and resolution of issue tags.
Follow up on project action items to ensure timely closure.
Attend internal and customer meetings and distribute minutes as required.
Create and distribute monthly project team updates.
Provide project status, control, and progress reporting support.
Prepare project schedules using MS Project or Primavera P6, as required.
Verify project progress and prepare monthly progress reports.
Support customer correspondence through the Project Manager.
Travel to vendors and job sites and attend customer meetings as required.
Compile requests for bid (RFBs) for EPC contractors.
Compile proposal and project documents required for client submission.
Work autonomously without constant guidance.
