About The Position

Early‑career and mid‑level Project Engineers support engineering and construction projects across NYPA’s diverse portfolio – from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and closeout. These engineers coordinate resources, maintain project documentation, support contractor and vendor collaboration, and help ensure work meets all safety, schedule, cost, and regulatory requirements. Opportunities span both utility‑focused and customer‑focused projects across New York State. Project Engineering at NYPA encompasses several types of work, offering exposure to construction engineering, transmission and substation projects, clean‑energy and renewable integration initiatives, customer‑focused energy programs, facility modernization, and large capital/Propel projects. Project Engineers in this pool may contribute to major statewide initiatives – such as transmission line expansions, renewable energy connection projects, energy storage deployments, facility upgrades, and electrification efforts – offering significant opportunities for growth while supporting NYPA’s clean‑energy mission. This posting allows NYPA to accept applications year‑round and match candidates to opportunities as they become available. Candidates are placed based on technical competencies, experience level, and interest areas. Roles at this level do not require a New York State PE license. At NYPA, your work truly matters - every project you touch has a direct impact on people’s lives, from strengthening the grid to advancing the clean‑energy transition. You’ll join an amazing team of people who know their craft, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to high‑impact infrastructure that keeps New York running safely and efficiently. We design our benefits and work practices to support your life beyond the workplace, so you can thrive personally and professionally. Whether you are early in your career or building deep technical expertise, NYPA provides experience, opportunity, and growth through exposure to unique engineering challenges, mentorship, and pathways to broaden your skills over time. #LI-JP1
