About The Position

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor International Corporation (a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group company) is seeking a Project Engineer to review customer specifications for shop services projects and develop the shop services scope. This role ensures correct input data, engineering codes, and industry/company standards are used. The Project Engineer will support Supply Chain with technical deliverables, attend technical supplier audits, and assist in technical procurement control. Responsibilities include developing inspection and testing plans, preparing cost estimates, leading intellectual property (IP) clearance checks, and performing or facilitating reverse engineering of O-OEM turbomachinery equipment. The role also involves managing technical communications with customers, ensuring appropriate engineering levels are met, and timely issuance of engineering deliverables. Additionally, the Project Engineer will prepare technical inspection and repair recommendations' reports, attend project and design review meetings, generate and manage inspection and repair processes, and perform or facilitate fixture and tool design. Research and testing for repair techniques, leading root cause failure analyses, and providing engineering support for field service operations are also key duties. The role requires adopting and refining company procedures or developing new ones, and supporting the business in developing recommended spare parts lists.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience with turbomachinery (centrifugal compressors, steam turbines) relating to manufacturing, inspection, or repairs or related experience OR A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of experience with turbomachinery (centrifugal compressors, steam turbines) relating to manufacturing, inspection, or repairs or related experience.
  • Experience with centrifugal compressors
  • Experience with steam turbines
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience working in a manufacturing / repair shop on customer service projects for turbomachinery equipment
  • Experience with project engineering, including managing manufacturing or repair projects
  • Experience leading technical discussions
  • Experience working with manufacturing and engineering suppliers
  • Experience with report writing, including inspection reports, supplier audit reports, Non-conformance reports, and technical statements for turbomachinery products
  • Experience with manufacturing engineering including experience with router creation, technical risk assessments, and knowledge of machining, assembly, welding, nondestructive testing, metallurgy
  • Experience with mechanical engineering including consideration of stress analysis, vibration analysis, and metallurgy for turbomachinery products
  • Experience resolving technical and manufacturing issues by working with engineering and manufacturing shop resources.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer specifications for shop services projects and develop the shop services scope.
  • Ensure that correct input data, engineering codes and industry/company standards are used and adhered to where applicable.
  • Support Supply Chain with technical deliverables and attend technical supplier audits; assist in technical procurement control.
  • Develop inspection and testing plans for shop services and engineering study projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates for technical and engineering projects, when required.
  • Lead intellectual property (IP) clearance checks.
  • Perform or facilitate reverse engineering of O-OEM turbomachinery equipment.
  • Manage technical communications with customers.
  • Ensure appropriate level of engineering is provided to the business for each phase of the project to meet company/industry standards.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables are prepared and issued in a timely manner.
  • Prepare technical inspection and repair recommendations’ reports for any assigned projects.
  • Attend regular project, design review and additional technical meetings with internal and external clients.
  • Generate and manage inspection and repair processes and procedures to guide production teams.
  • Perform or facilitate fixture and tool design to support production teams.
  • Conduct research and testing to develop repair techniques and applications for turbomachinery equipment.
  • Lead root cause failure analyses on assigned projects.
  • Provide engineering support for field service operations, when required.
  • Adopt and refine the company’s procedures and/or develop new engineering procedures that are appropriate for assigned projects.
  • Support the business in developing recommended spare parts lists for turnaround and similar projects.
  • Arrange evaluation of technical data and proposals from material, equipment and service providers when required.
